In 2004, the Ranson City Council authorized the creation of the Parks and Recreation Commission to resolve a serious deficiency in parks and recreational opportunities within the City of Ranson. Believe it or not, the City did not have any public parks prior to 2004. In six short years, and with the help and hard work of many people, the City of Ranson now has multiple parks and many assets for citizens and and visitors to enjoy.
